Jerk it
Slightly erotic raw chicken discodance with an Asian blonde hipster from East Williamsburg.

Toronto playlist

I feel like I should document the collection of songs that I have compulsively listened to many times over while I’ve been here. It’s mind numbingly sobering to listen to this shit while traveling alone. My iPod actually serves a purpose now…
mp3: she & him - sentimental heart
mp3: yeah yeah yeahs - cheated hearts
mp3: in the mood for love soundtrack - aquellos ojos verdes (those green eyes)
mp3: incubus - love hurts
mp3: julie doiron - the wrong guy
mp3: red hot chili peppers - porcelain
mp3: john coltrane - in a sentimental mood

Write songs with River
I knew that Rivers was a weird dude, but he’s pretty fucking hilarious in this series of clips. He’s officially making a “sawng” with his YouTube audience, creating each segment of the song with every episode. It’s actually quite entertaining and works quite well. It also reminds me that the song writing process is a very different beast and requires a bit more of a narrative attitude. He starts off with a goal then works his way around themes and ideas before anything else.

The Dodos - Visiter

An indie band from San Francicso, The Dodos remind of Ben Gibbard without the annoyance of DCFC. Anyway, I’ve been listening to some of the songs and a few of them really stuck to me the past few days. It’s been a shit storm lately for me.
mp3: the dodos - it’s that time again
mp3: the dodos - walking
They’re playing at The Independent in San Francisco on June 19th. I think I’ll be there.

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours

This is like the Heartbeats anthem of the Spring for me right now. Cut Copy’s new album, In Ghost Colours, hits a relaxed pop tone that I can’t ignore. It’s really fucking perfect with the seasons shifting and graduation right around the corner.
mp3: knife - heartbeats
I remember last Fall I was in the car with Eric driving to Nonquitt out in Massachussets, Heartbeats was fluttering my ears for the entire duration. In the same way, I’m gonna enjoy listening to this while I’m traveling up and through Toronto and Montreal next month.
mp3: cut copy - lights and music
mp3: cut copy - hearts on fire

The Mae Shi - HLLLYH
The L.A. based group, The Mae Shi, has a shit ton of work out from previous years, but I can’t find anything but a few bare songs of their most recent release HLLLYH. I think they used to play bar mitzvahs and shit; the songs off their recent release are pretty dope.

mp3: the mae shi - run to your grave
mp3: the mae shi - i get (almost) anything i want
mp3: the mae shi - lamb & lion
